Environmental Education for Children and Young People

The team at Essex Wildlife Trust provides formal education visits both as field trips to our nature reserves and within the classroom and school grounds.  Each visit gives essential backup to classroom teaching of many areas of the curriculum.

The People and Wildlife team are highly qualified in environmental science and very experienced in working with groups of children and young people.  The aim is to give those attending a sense of joy in being outdoors and an insight into the complexities of the living world.

All necessary considerations are given to health and safety.  Essex Wildlife Trust provides a range of activities for teachers to select items appropriate to their needs and teachers should discuss these with the education staff before finalising their plans for the day.  Each centre has areas of interest and specialism.  All necessary equipment and worksheets are provided for the day.

We offer environmental education to the following groups as field trips and schools outreach visits:

Early Years
Keystage 1 and 2
Keystage 3 and 4
Futher and Higher Education
Forest School
We cover science, citizenship, geography, history and other subject areas
