Sir David Attenborough officially opened Essex Wildlife Trust’s Thurrock Thameside Nature Park on Saturday 11 May 2013. Thurrock Thameside Nature Park is an astonishing project, a pioneering wild haven atop London’s waste. Its vital statistics push all boundaries of scale and wildlife recovery.

On Thursday 9th May 2013 at the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors RICS Awards for East of England the visitor centre at Thameside Nature Park won Awards for:- Design and Innovation / Tourism and Leisure.

The finalists for the National Charity Awards 2013 were announced on 7th May 2013 and Essex Wildlife Trust were shortlisted for the Thurrock Thameside Nature Park project.

Essex Wildlife Trust would like to say a big thank you to Katie Rawlinson, who ran the London Marathon this year to raise funds for Essex Wildlife Trust. She has raised so far an amazing £612.58, which will help us to protect our beautiful county and the many habitats that are under threat in Essex – heathland, coastal marshes, woodland, meadow and wetland sites.

Nightingale Walks

Come and experience the amazing sound of the Nightingale at Fingringhoe Wick nature reserve. We have approx. 30 - 40 singing males each year and their song fills the air. Sunday 22nd April to Sunday 6th May, 7.30pm - 9pm.
