  • Take part in our hedgehog survey

    The hedgehog, scientific name Erinaceus europaeus, is an instantly recognisable mammal, but there is growing concern that hedgehog populations are declining nationally. Hedgehog populations have declined from 30 million in the 1950's to just 1.5 million in 1995, and they are now listed as a species of conservation concern.

  • Volunteers needed for Water Vole Project at Fingringhoe

    Monday 23rd March, 2015

    The first phase of the water vole work at Fingringhoe Wick nature reserve starts on Monday March 23 as we begin trapping water voles out of the borrow dyke. We are now looking for between 1-3 volunteers to assist our professional water vole ecologist, Beth, each day checking the cages and popping the captured water voles into travel pens. You do not require any previous experience but will be required to walk at least a mile along the seawall and borrow dyke helping out under Beth’s instructions.
