Many events take place through the individual Visitor Centres but Essex Wildlife Trust also hosts a number of other events throughout the year.
We host wildlife watching trips, photography and education sessions, theatrical and musical events and much, much more.
Our regular Badger Boogie swing jive dances take place in either Witham or Lawford and are a wonderful opportunity to get your glad rags on! A one hour jive lesson kicks off the evening so anyone can have a go, even if you’ve never tried this particular style before.
For the year 2018-19 we have been chosen as one of the Mayor of Colchester’s Charities, and are working with five other local charities to raise funds and awareness. We have quiz nights, a Wildlife Fun Day and an end of year Ball to look forward to! We are very grateful to Cllr Peter Chillingworth, Mayor of Colchester for choosing us to benefit for this wonderful year of fundraising.

Recycling and Lifestyle Fundraising
We can recycle a number of items to help raise important funds for the Trust. There are also some useful lifestyle tools available such as EasyFundraising, ChariTableBookings and GiveaCar which mean you can pick up donations for Essex Wildlife Trust during the course of your usual daily activities. The graphic shown opposite details all the ways in which you can help raise funds for us without actually parting with any cash.
Wheel of fortune
Easy ways to raise funds for Essex Wildlife Trust!
Currency and Stamps
We can process old or foreign coins and notes, as well as used stamps of any kind. They can be brought into our visitor centres or stamps can be posted to us at Abbotts Hall Farm, Maldon Road, Great Wigborough, Colchester CO5 7RZ.
Bras are worth more than other clothing – because most people throw them away! Please donate them at our visitor centres (but keep them separate from other clothing).
Clothing and Textiles
We can recycle your old clothes, bed linen, shoes, handbags and towels, so please drop them off in our designated textile bins at Hanningfield, Thorndon or Chafford Gorges visitor centres, or at Abbotts Hall Farm.
Every time you shop online with more than 3,100 retailers, and a percentage of your spend will come straight to us!
Donate your old car to us through GiveaCar and they will sell or scrap it for you and send the proceeds to us.
Raise £1 per diner every time you book a meal out (and £1 per person per night when booking a hotel).
