Optics Days

Are you just starting out in birdwatching and don't know where to begin, looking to upgrade those old binoculars or thinking about getting your first telescope? Come along to Abberton Reservoir Visitor Centre on Saturday 2nd or Sunday 3rd August 9am-5pm and let our friendly Optics Team help and advise you. Our range of binoculars, telescopes, tripods and accessories, carefully selected for quality, price and value for money, will be on display so you can try before you buy. Includes Opticron, Minox, Hawke and Manfrotto. Special offers available. All profits go to EWT to support our conservation work around the county.

Birds @ Abberton Reservoir 25.7.08

Highlights this week include: red breasted goose (2 of unknown origin), Egyptian goose (4), kingfisher (1), marsh harrier (3), greenshank (42), common sandpiper (55), garganey (1), common tern (including fledged young), great spotted woodpecker, grey wagtail, jay, chiffchaff, hobby (1), turtle dove, bullfinch, linnet.

FINGRINGHOE WICK: Dino Week...Summer Holiday Fun

Come along to Fingringhoe Wick and enjoy two hours of dinosaur art and craft followed by a fossil sand dig out on the reserve. Each child attending will receive a FREE FOSSIL to take home DINO WEEK Dates 30th and 31st July, 1st,2nd and 3rd August Time of Sessions 10am – noon, 12.30pm – 2.30p and 3pm – 5pm Donation £5.00 per child per session, adults free Children must be accompanied by an adult.

FINGRINGHOE WICK: Late Night Opening

There will be six late night openings for the centre and reserve during the spring and summer (with early opening on 21st June) these unique opportunities will provide you with possible glimpses of our more nocturnal residents. Saturday 21st June: 4.00am – 10pm (longest day) Thursday 17th July: 9am – 9.30pm Thursday 21st August: 9am – 8.30pm Saturday 6th September: 9am – 8pm DONATION: £2 per person *£5 per family (*2 adults and 2 children) No booking required for late nights NB; BOOKING ESSENTIAL TO SEE SUNRISE ON 21st JUNE 2008 when the visitor centre and reserve will open 4.00am.
