Admin Volunteers

Required at Essex Wildlife Trust's headquarters Abbotts Hall Farm, Great Wigborough near Colchester. Duties include: reception (meeting and greeting visitors), answering the telephone, dealing with incoming and out going post, may involve some typing, filing and generally helping out.

Centre Volunteers
Travel expenses paid
Required at the following visitor centres / nature reserves: Abberton Reservoir near Colchester, Bedfords Park near Romford, Chafford Gorges near Grays (Lakeside), Fingringhoe Wick near Colchester and Langdon near Basildon. To help with the efficient and profitable running of this Visitor Centre. All skills can be learned on the job. Duties include reception, retail, admin and housekeeping or helping with the Events Programme.

Volunteer Wardens

Volunteer wardens can expect to see wildlife benefiting as a result of their efforts. They also get to experience the small changes on the reserve throughout the seasons. No experience is necessary, just a strong interest to learn and enthusiasm. Training and support is provided through our staff and volunteers. The job invloves: Working to an agreed plan, keeping people and the reserve safe i.e keeping paths open and clear, working with other volunteers, keeping a watchful eye on the reserve.We currently have the following warden vacancies: Chafford Gorges Nature Park (Chafford), Spring Wood and Poors Picece (Danbury Ridge).

People & Wildlife Volunteers
Travel expenses paid
Working with children, young people and adults. Learning or assisting dependant on experience and inclination. Formal school groups, informally holiday clubs, young peoples practical conservation work, guided walks and large events. No experience or wildlife knowledge required. All training provided. Interest and enthusiasm for working with people and wildlife essential. Criminal Records Bureau checks and character reference taken as standard for all those working with under 16 year olds.

Volunteers needed to deliver leaflets

Help needed to drop off a small handful of leaflets to Solicitors offices once every 6 - 8 weeks in any of the following areas: Brightlingsea, Clacton, Walton, Harwich, Frinton, Manningtree, Witham, Braintree, Halstead, Chelmsford, Billericay, Wickford, Basildon, Ongar, Great Dumow.
