Brentwood & Billericay Walk at The Naze

Posted: Friday 19th October 2018 by Brentwood and Billericay Local Group

A small group visited the different habitats at the Naze , then going on to Holland Haven Country Park

A bright and mild morning didn’t produce many birds within the scrub area; however, there were a few different butterflies – red admiral, smallheath and large white enjoying the last of the summer. There were more birds to be found along the shore line with perhaps the highlight being a couple of sandling.
At Holland Haven Country Park, overlooking the freshwater pool from the hide, there were many more species to be found. A surprise was a dunlin still in its breeding plumage anda short-eared owl overseeing the pool from its fence post. Also, which is always nice to see, a pair of stonechats.
