All Wednesday indoor meetings commence at 8.00pm and are held in the dinning room at Laindon Community Centre, Aston Road, Laindon, SS15 6NX. Non members are most welcome; a donation of £1.00 is requested. BNHS and EWT members 50p. Refreshments available. Ample parking space.

Marks Hill Conservation Work Parties are held most Sunday mornings and some week days from the beginning of September to the end of March. Meet at 9 am at Marks Hill entrance on Staneway (north west side) by the green farm gate and seat. NB: Parking is not permissible on the verge; please park inside the gate. Tools, gloves and refreshments provided. Help is always welcome. Please contact Peter Furze on 01268 523882 for further details.

Marks Hill Recordings Meetings. Moth trapping, bats, foxes, owl and possible badgers. Subject to weather conditions, evening recording meetings will take place once a month, from March to October. Meet at dusk by the green gate and seat in Staneway. Bring a torch. NB: Parking is not permissible on the verge; please park inside the gate. 19:45-22:00 AGM followed by Marsh Fever

A talk by David Petts. The Essex and Kent marshes were, until the beginning of the C20, considered to be very unhealthy. Inhabitants of the marshes suffered from the Ague, or Marsh Fever. The talk describes the problem and discusses whether it was Malaria, and the impact it had on the environment and the local population.
