Tollesbury Sites Warden

Salary: Salary up to £22,300 per annum, upon successful completion of probation

We have an exciting opportunity at Tollesbury for a Sites Warden. The post holder will manage 242 ha’s of wonderful Essex coastal grazing marsh at Tollesbury Wick, home to thousands of wintering and breeding wildfowl and waders. They will also oversee the management of the surrounding nature reserves of Chigborough Lakes, Oxley Meadows, Maldon Wick, Shut Heath Wood and Bradwell Cockle spit which boast a wide range of habitats. From the exposed cockle shell bank at Bradwell, to the semi-natural ancient woodlands at Shut Heath and the flower rich grassland at Oxley Meadows. The post holder will be required to have the enthusiasm, skill and knowledge to enhance and improve the sites not only for wildlife but also for an increasing number of visitors.

Responsibilities will include data collection, habitat management, livestock management, machinery maintenance and the line management of a Livestock Officer and a team of committed volunteers, whilst ensuring that the Tollesbury sites are safe place to work and visit.

The successful applicant will work 37.5 hours per week across Monday to Friday but will be expected to work on a weekend rota cover livestock checks two weekends in four.
