Opening and Events at Warley Place

Warley Place is open to the public every day.

The entrance is adjacent to the Thatchers Arms pub (post code CM13 3HU) and through a wooden barred gate that should be kept closed.

If driving, a small car park is at the end of the short drive. Trail Guides are available at the next gate into the reserve.

2018 Events

Heritage Open Days - 8th & 9th September.

The theme for the Heritage Open Days this year is ‘Extraordinary Women’. We feel that Ellen Willmott definitely qualifies for this title, so Warley Place will be opening at 10.30am – 4.30pm as part of this national celebration.

There will be guided tours of the reserve on both days at 10.30, 12.30 and 2.30, and visitors will be taken to some sites which are not normally open to the public. Guide books, etc. will also be on sale. Please contact Fiona on 01277 230436 or

Great Warley Church will also be open on 8 September, 10am – 4pm and on 9 September 12.15 – 4pm. There will be an exhibition in the church about Ellen Willmott and Warley Place. We hope that many people will be able to visit both locations, and we look forward to welcoming some new friends.

Join Fred Rumsey, Botanist at the Natural History Museum as he goes in search of wildlife on a spring walk at Warley Place Nature Reserve.

Important Information

Please Note - Warley Place is a Nature Reserve and dogs are not allowed past the car park into the reserve itself.  There are no toilet facilities on the site.  There is limited parking space on the reserve so we would ask large groups of people attending to share cars where possible and to contact Mick Hedges (01277 231367), Fiona Agassiz (01277 230436) or John Cannell (01277 217236) to ensure their visit does not clash with another large party.
