Come and make a difference on one of our nature reserves by joining a work party. It is a great way to get involved with hands on conservation work whilst enjoying the company of other people. People from all ages and abilities are most welcome to join in and we will provide all the tools and instructions.

For example, a regular work party meets at Pound Wood near Rayleigh which involves about 25 people with one aim in mind - to improve the wood for all of those who use it. They work on coppicing and produce firewood from this; garden furniture is made from chestnut; fencing posts are produced and charcoal is made using a kiln.

We are especially keen to hear from volunteers in the autumn and winter months. Essex Wildlife Trust could not continue without the many, many volunteers it has in the county, all of whom are able to offer different skills and varying amounts of time. It is the opportunity to become involved in protecting wildlife for the future, while at the same time meeting people and becoming part of a large organisation that acknowledges each individual.

Please visit our Whats On guide for work party dates.
