Art competition celebrates National Marine Week

Art competition celebrates National Marine Week

This year we are celebrating UK marine life in a creative and artistic way. From 16 July, we are inviting everyone in Essex to create a piece of art inspired by the coast.

In National Marine Week, we are shell-ebrating marine life in Essex and around the UK with Coastal Creations Art Competition. We are welcoming individuals of all ages and artistic abilities in Essex to create a piece of marine-themed art from 16 July onwards. Enter one of our three categories for a chance to win!

Coastal Creations Art Competition

Categories

Waves of Colour

We want to show that UK marine life isn't dull and grey! Why not take inspiration from a flamboyant nudibranch or the vibrant blue legs of a velvet swimming crab? What about the warm colours of a coastal sunset or a colour-changing cuttlefish?

Close to Home

This category is all about showcasing the marine species, habitats and coastal landscapes of Essex. We have a diverse range of creatures calling our 350-mile-long coastline home. Let's celebrate our local marine wildlife in any style, colour or form!

Sea-stainable

Have a recycled or re-used element as part of your piece! Why not make use of items collected from a beach clean, create a collage from old magazines or use a discarded piece of wood to paint a masterpiece on?

Prizes

We have got some incredible prizes up for grabs from local Essex artists and businesses including: Michelle Parsons (@easelandcanvas), Laura Young (@laurayoungartdesign), Crafty Arts (@craftyartsuk), Charlotte Frost (@charl_lucy_art) and more!

In addition, the winner of each category will have their artwork displayed in The Naze Nature Discovery Centre.
