National Marine Week

From 22 July – 6 August, we celebrated National Marine Week, rejoicing in Essex’s magical marine species and spectacles. But there is never a bad time to explore Essex's glorious coastal habitats.

Thank you for diving into our marine themed activities, competition or joining us for one of our fantastic events.

Essex’s coastline is a magnificent 350 miles long and includes 70-foot high cliffs, meandering marshes, estuaries, twisting gullies, tidal mudflats and a variety of sandy and shingle beaches! Below the surface, seals twist and tumble through the water and tiny seahorses navigate the Thames Estuary. Above the water, oystercatcher and ringed plover scurry over the mudflats in search of food. This myriad of landscapes is a haven for wildlife.

Coastal Creations Art Competition

We celebrated UK marine life in a creative and artistic way by inviting everyone in Essex to create a piece of art inspired by the coast.
