    Major milestone in ENORI project - More than 25,000 mature native oysters have been reintroduced to an Essex estuary by the Essex Native Oyster Restoration Initiative (ENORI) - in an attempt to restore a nationally important breeding population that once supported hundreds of fishermen.

  • Birds of Prey Ringing

    Tuesday 12th July, 2016

    During the breeding season Essex Wildlife Trust, working with qualified experts from British Trust for Ornithology, rings the young of several birds of prey species that are nesting on our nature reserves. Recently we have ringed Kestrel, Buzzard and Barn Owl - and taken pictures of the various youngsters.

  • Colne Conservation Collaboration

    Essex Wildlife Trust has teamed up with Tesco, DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs), Colchester Town Council, Keep Britain Tidy, Essex County Council, East Mersea Beach Care, The Conservation Volunteers, Colchester Canoe Club, Wivenhoe Canoe & Kayak Club, Braintree District Council and more, to make Wednesday 8 June an extravaganza of conservation volunteering along the River Colne. The day ties in with World Oceans Day.
