Coastal Creations Art Competition winners announced

Coastal Creations Art Competition winners announced

The first ever art competition celebrating National Marine Week has come to an end. Take a look at our magnificent winners and runners up below.

People across Essex showcased the wonderfully diverse marine species and habitats we have in the UK and on our local coast through art. We had submissions from individuals, families and groups from the age of 1 to 90.

The competition was extremely competitive, with over 150 entries across our three categories: Close to Home, Waves of Colour and Sea-stainable. The judges from the Campaigns Team and Marine Team selected their top 3 favourites from each category, and finally chose an overall winner.

We are pleased to announce that our winners and runners-up are as follows:

Waves of Colour – Winner: Alistair Fiddes, age 69 from Writtle. Runners up: Cotty Vicary, age 9 from Basildon and Rebekah Weatherhead, age 33 from Barkingside.

Sea-stainable – Winner: Stanway Green Lodge Residential Care Home residents, from Stanway. Runners up: Lynne Brown, age 65+ from White Colne and Annabel Barry, 64 from Westcliff on Sea.

Close to Home – Winner: Eliza Vernitski, age 11 from Colchester. Runners up: Claire Bartlett, age 76 from Southend on Sea and Philippa Murphy.

All the artwork displayed below will soon be available to view in person at The Naze Nature Discovery Centre for a limited time.
