Over £10,000 raised for a Wilder Essex future

With thanks to the Green Match Fund, over £10,000 has been raised for our vision of a Wilder Essex.

Essex Wildlife Trust set out to fundraise £10,000 in just one week, to raise vital funds that will help protect, restore and promote wildlife where we live.

From 22 April to 29 April, every donation received was matched by the Green Match Fund. This means that every donation made will have twice the impact. With thanks to the generosity of the public, a total of £11,425 was raised, all for the Trust's vision of a Wilder Essex.

A Wilder Essex vision

We have entered the most vital decade for nature. In order to stop the deterioration of our natural world in its tracks, we must take action to protect the future. We need to create a Wilder Essex. One where wildlife is thriving, every person has access to nature and our habitats are connected.

By creating wildlife corridors and developing a nature recovery network, we hope to not only connect habitats for wildlife, but connect people with wildlife and green spaces again. We want to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to develop a lifelong love of nature, covering every area of Essex, urban and rural. It is our aim to get 1 in 4 people taking action to support nature, helping us to achieve our vision of putting nature into recovery across at least 30% of land and sea by 2030.

Michelle Shepherd, Supporter Development Officer for the Trust says:

"A huge thank you to everybody that donated to our ‘Working to Create a Wilder Essex’ campaign. We want the people of Essex to experience all of our county’s natural spectacles and we need to ensure these will never be lost.

But we simply can’t do it without support. By making a donation to our Wilder Essex campaign, people are not only doing something amazing for local wildlife, but they are also helping us to protect the future. So thank you once again; your donations play a huge part and will allow us to act now before it's too late."
