About the event
The hazel dormouse is one of our most endearing and iconic mammals. Yet very few of us will ever see one; they are secretive, nocturnal and inherently exist in low density populations. Dormouse distribution and abundance have declined markedly in the UK, and understanding where they still occur is vital to their conservation.
This talk will describe the survey effort and methods used to find dormice in Essex, a remaining stronghold for the species, with a focus on Essex Wildlife Trust nature reserves.
