About the event

We look forward to welcoming representatives of our community partners, as well as paying guests, to our Hanningfield site for a session on nest boxes. We will build our own nest boxes, then have a walk around the site to determine how to safely place them to maximise the chance of their being successfully used by breeding birds in the Spring.

It's also a great opportunity to pick up some Christmas craft inspiration, too!

Please do come and join us for this exciting day of crafting and learning about ways to welcome our feathered friends to our gardens and community spaces, at our fabulous woodland and waterside site.

FAQs

๐Ÿ“Where do we meet?

Hanningfield Nature Discovery Centre

๐ŸฅพWhat should we wear?

Most of our events are fully outdoors, and you need to come dressed for the weather.  We recommend layers (top and bottom), which can get mucky.  Wellies or boots (with thick socks) and waterproofs are a good shout if you have them.

๐ŸŒWhere are you based?

We are located in Mid-Essex, local to Chelmsford, Ingatestone, Billericay, Wickford, South Woodham Ferrers, and Basildon.

๐Ÿš—Is there parking?

Yes. We have a large free car park.

๐Ÿš‡Can we get to you on public transport?

We are accessible by bus, with bus stops outside the centre and 10 minutes away. We are not accessible by train.

๐ŸšปAre there toilets?

Toilets are located inside the visitor centre.

โ˜•Is there a Cafe or shop?

The visitor centre has a shop and cafรฉ serving hot and cold drinks, snacks, ice cream, and light lunches.

๐Ÿ•โ€๐ŸฆบCan we bring a dog?

Assistance dogs are welcome at our events.

โ™ฟIs it wheelchair accessible?

Our reserve pathways are flat and easy to push wheelchairs, but our activities mound can be slippery, which could make it difficult to push wheelchairs up.

Can't make this event? We have an exciting event packed full of events for adults. Find out more here!
