Gardening for Wildlife for Adults and Community Groups at Thameside!
Mucking, Stanford-Le-Hope, Essex, SS17 0RN
Event details
About the event
Join me, Community Ranger John Attiwell, for a practical session on learning about winter gardening for pollinators at the lovely Thameside Nature Park.
Drawing on the experiences of the site team, and his time as a volunteer at Thameside, John will show off the successful pond dipping pond in the education area at the site, and the associated invertebrate habitat and amphibian hibernacula, small features which offer wild ‘minibeasts’ the safety to pass through those often-overlooked parts of their life- and circannual cycles. Thameside has its origins in the unpromisingly named Mucking Landfill site and has become a rich site for wildlife, showcasing what can be achieved through creating habitats from scratch. It is an ideal source of inspiration for your garden or community space.
Advanced booking is essential, and tickets are free to existing community partners, and £10.88 per ticket for general admission.
