August is one of the best months to get outdoors and experience the incredible wildlife Essex has to offer. From colourful butterflies to fascinating moths, summer is still in full swing, and many species are at their peak. This month, the Conservation Team at Essex Wildlife Trust is shining a spotlight on the painted lady butterfly, while also encouraging people to keep an eye out for Jersey tiger moths and Hummingbird Hawk-moths.
Each month, Essex Wildlife Trust highlights a species to encourage people to record sightings and help monitor wildlife across the county. Sightings can be recorded through the Nature Counts website, with every record helping to build a clearer picture of how wildlife is faring and supporting conservation efforts across Essex.
