Essex Wildlife Trust is in the early stages of developing an ecotourism offering on some of our nature reserves. We want our nature reserves to be places of wonder for people to explore, learn more about what we do and why we do it. Ecotourism would be a unique and special way to experience this.
Ecotourism and regenerative tourism are a similar type of stay, although there are a few key differences. We want our stays to encompass both ecotourism and regenerative tourism. Where you can rest assured that by staying at one of our locations you are consciously protecting the nature and environment that surrounds it.
We are fortunate to be able to create bookable holiday accommodation in a number of our fantastic reserves – an approach which has been successful in other Wildlife Trusts and charities. We are planning on offering experiences such as expert-guided nature tours and ranger-led experiences, either as standalone days out or as experiences to add-on to holiday stays.
We hope to create a nature-focused tourism offer that allows visitors longer, more in-depth opportunities, to explore, understand, connect with and respect Essex’s unique wild places.
