Marine Wildlife Celebration Day
Naze Nature Discovery Centre,
The Naze Nature Discovery Centre, Old Hall Lane,, Walton-on-the-Naze, CO14 8LEAbout the event
August is Essex Wildlife Trust’s Marine Month. Marine Month is a chance to celebrate and enjoy Essex’s coastal and marine wildlife - but it’s also an opportunity to raise awareness of the challenges facing our seas and do our bit to safeguard them for the future.
Activities will include:
Seashore Scavenger Hunt
Come and find out more about our seashore wildlife! Join a member of our team to hunt for plants and animals living on the Naze seashore and discover more about the wonderful world beneath the waves. Suitable for families this event will begin with a short presentation about Essex marine wildlife before heading down to the beach to look for seashore life at The Naze.
Shoresearch Survey
Help us to identify and record coastal species to build a baseline of marine wildlife in Essex. Surveys are suitable for ages 16 years+ (under 18s must be accompanied by an adult) and volunteers of all ability and experience are welcome.
Beach Clean
Join us for a guided litter pick along The Naze beaches and the edge of the John Weston nature reserve. Conservation is key and we intend to leave nothing but footprints. Plastic is the problem so let us be the solution. Gloves and kneeling pads are recommended for removing micro-plastics and cotton bud sticks from the sand; however, litter pickers and buckets are provided.
Guilded walk of the John Western nature reserve
Join us for a guided walk starting at The Naze Visitor Centre and encompassing Essex Wildlife Trust’s John Weston Nature Reserve and the surrounding landscape.
See individual events for more information on how to register. Exact event timings will be released nearer the time.
