Securing more space for wildlife at Wrabness

Securing more space for wildlife at Wrabness

£0 of £0 goal

Wrabness nature reserve, on the banks of the River Stour, is one of Essex Wildlife Trust’s most treasured sites. This winter, we’re raising £30,000 so we can make this site a protected safe haven for the species that live there.

Help us purchase 6 acres of land in Wrabness, to extend one of our most important nature reserves and havens for wildlife. With your support we can add to the diverse mosaic of habitats, supporting iconic rare birds like nightingales and turtle doves, leaving a lasting legacy for nature. Securing this land aligns with our vision to have 30% of land protected for nature by 2030.

By securing this six-acre site, we will:

  • Restore and protect three priority habitats: grazing marsh, ponds and hedgerows.
  • Protect threatened species including turtle dove, nightingale, brown hare and adder.
  • Contribute to a wider nature recovery network across Essex.
  • Provide a richer, more resilient landscape for both wildlife and people.

This winter, you can help protect one of Essex’s most treasured places. Together, we can expand Wrabness, safeguard rare species, and secure a home for its wildlife. By donating to this important appeal, you can be part of its history and as well as securing its future.

1 in 6 UK species are at risk of extinction and our remaining habitats are too small and fragmented. We need to extend and connect our most important habitats to help protect our ecosystems and all they support.
