Stone Point 'little terns' guided walk
, Walton on The Naze, Essex, CO14 8LE
Event details
About the event
The Little Tern is our smallest breeding seabird and one of the rarest - barely 1,000 pairs annually. They spend just three months with us before returning to their winter quarters in West Africa.
The small colony in Hamford Water is by far the largest in Essex. The nesting birds may be viewed from Stone Point, but these views are often distant. However, the birds may often be seen feeding at relatively close range in Walton Channel and just offshore. Although this is by no means certain, this does offer a good chance of seeing these tiny birds plunge diving for small fish.
Please bring suitable clothing and footwear for uneven terrain.
£7 adults.
Booking essential via email or phone.
Facilities at The Naze include café, shop, toilets, disabled toilets, baby changing and car park (fees apply).
