Climate change is impacting our natural world more than ever before. But the more we understand about these impacts, the more we can do to help.

That’s why we've partnered with the University of Essex to launch The Essex BioBlitz - the first project of its kind in Essex.

Over the last two years, you have helped us collect a whopping 55,426 wildflower observations! Each submission will help to map the effects of climate change on flowering plants across our county.

It's easy to participate, just follow our three simple steps:

1. Download the free iNaturalist app, available on both iOS and Android and create your own account. Don't have a smart phone? Don't worry, you can take part on your computer too!

2. Search and join 'The Essex Bioblitz 2024' project on iNaturalist.

3. Snap a wildflower - you can do this directly through the app or by uploading your photos to the app afterward.

Take a look below at some of our favourite wildflower observations from last year.

What’s next?

Your data will contribute to important climate change research led by the University of Essex. The results of which will be published in a scientific paper.

By repeating the BioBlitz in years to come, we can compare the results and identify trends and patterns in the data.
