About the event
Celebrate the 'Big Wild Weekend' by grabbing your tent and taking this amazing opportunity to camp at stunning Abbotts Hall, site of Essex Wildlife Trust's headquarters, nestled in the sleepy farmland countryside around the village of Great Wigborough.
Take part in WILD activities, such as an evening walk to spot owls, or listening out for bats with our special detectors. A special birdbox-monitoring demonstration will take place on the farm the following morning, and our moth-trapping expert will guide you through a plethora of incredible winged insects drawn in overnight.
A barbecue is provided during the evening (please bring your own food and drinks for the barbecue and breakfast) and we will be lighting the camp fire a little later on. You will almost certainly hear Tawny Owls calling during the night!
Toilets and a shower are available, and you will have free access to hot drinks, but please bring your own tent and camping equipment, and a gas hob if you wish to have a hot breakfast.
