About the event

Join us for an evening in Hanningfield Woods, where we will give an informative presentation about the bats that call Hanningfield home, before heading out to listen to the bats on bat detectors and spot them flying around using our torches. 🦇

This event is suitable for older children (aged 8+) and adults.  Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Please come suitably dressed for the weather, as we will be outside for part of the session.

🎫 Who needs a ticket?

This is a family event, and each attendee, including adults and children, will require a ticket to attend.

📍Where do we meet? 

Outside the entrance of Hanningfield Reservoir Nature Discovery Park

🥾What should we wear? 

Most of our events are fully outdoors, and you need to come dressed for the weather.  We recommend layers (top and bottom), which can get mucky.  Wellies (with thick socks) and waterproofs are a good shout if you have them. 

🌍Where are you based? 

We are located in Mid-Essex, local to Chelmsford, Ingatestone, Billericay, Wickford, South Woodham Ferrers, and Basildon.

🚗Is there parking? 

Yes. We have a large free car park.

🚇Can we get to you on public transport? 

We are accessible by bus, with bus stops outside the centre and 10 minutes away. We are not accessible by train.

🚻Are there toilets? 

Toilets are located inside the visitor centre. 

☕Is there a Cafe or shop? 

The visitor centre has a shop and café serving hot and cold drinks, snacks, ice cream, and light lunches. 

🐕‍🦺Can we bring a dog? 

Assistance dogs are welcome at our events. 

♿Is it wheelchair accessible? 

Our reserve pathways are flat and easy to push wheelchairs, but our activities mound can be slippery, which could make it difficult to push wheelchairs up.
