Visitors can now enjoy an easier and more accessible visit to Hanningfield Reservoir Nature Discovery Park, in Billericay, following a series of improvements designed to remove barriers to accessing nature.
Essex Wildlife Trust has introduced new accessible parking bays, automatic entrance doors to the Nature Discovery Centre and upgraded pathways, making it easier for wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility to explore the site. The improvements provide step-free access from arrival through to the Nature Discovery Centre, woodland trails and bird hide, helping more people experience wildlife in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Bill Godsafe, Ranger at Essex Wildlife Trust, says: “We are delighted to make the reserve more welcoming, allowing even more visitors to experience the wellbeing benefits that spending time outdoors can bring. Hanningfield is a fantastic site year-round, with the bluebells in spring, nesting birds over the summer and the wonderful autumn colours later in the year. The enhancements reflect the Trust's commitment to ensuring nature is accessible to everyone, we believe every person should get to enjoy the wildlife and wild places of Essex.”
