About the event

Join in the fun with our W.o.W. Week of Wildlife this May half-term!

Shine this summer in our wonderful woodland at Hanningfield! Our parent, toddler, and baby session includes swinging in the hammock, creative crafts, digging in the mud kitchen, looking for minibeasts, and more outside activities!

We will finish the session around the campfire (weather permitting). Suitable for babies under 18 months and children aged 18 months - 5 years. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

We're really excited to share our W.O.W Week of Wildlife with you this May half-term - find more W.O.W events here! W.O.W Week of Wildlife Events

FAQS

๐ŸŽซ Who needs a ticket?

All children will require a ticket to attend, please. Accompanying adults do not require a ticket.

๐Ÿ“Where do we meet?

Meet on the mound behind the visitor centre.

๐Ÿ”ฅWhat should we bring? Is food provided?

Weather permitting, we will have a campfire at the end of the session.  You are welcome to bring something to toast. Ideas include:  crumpets, little malt loaves, toasting tea cakes, sweet waffles, brioche, fruit, e.g., pineapple/mango.  Anything you can warm through on a stick, really โ€“ we provide toasting forks.  No uncooked meat or nuts, please. Marshmallows and popcorn are not recommended for children under the age of 5.

๐ŸฅพWhat should we wear?

Most of our events are fully outdoors, and you need to come dressed for the weather.  We recommend layers (top and bottom), which can get mucky.  Wellies (with thick socks) and waterproofs are a good shout if you have them.

๐ŸŒWhere are you based?

We are located in Mid-Essex, local to Chelmsford, Ingatestone, Billericay, Wickford, South Woodham Ferrers, and Basildon.

๐Ÿš—Is there parking?

Yes. We have a large free car park.

๐Ÿš‡Can we get to you on public transport?

We are accessible by bus, with bus stops outside the centre and 10 minutes away. We are not accessible by train.

๐ŸšปAre there toilets?

Toilets are located inside the visitor centre.

โ˜•Is there a Cafe or shop?

The visitor centre has a shop and cafรฉ serving hot and cold drinks, snacks, ice cream, and light lunches.

๐Ÿ•โ€๐ŸฆบCan we bring a dog?

โ™ฟIs it wheelchair accessible?

Our reserve pathways are flat and easy to push wheelchairs, but our activities mound can be slippery, which could make it difficult to push wheelchairs up.
