About the event

This summer school holiday, join us for one of our most popular events! An afternoon full of fun outdoor activities in our peaceful woodland- where we'll look for mini-beasts, dig in the mud kitchen, build dens, climb trees, make creative crafts, and enjoy a campfire! (weather permitting).  Please feel free to bring your own snacks to cook on the campfire 🔥. Suitable for children aged 2 and above.

Session times: 1pm-3pm (Please arrive at beginning of session)

Tickets are £8.80 per child. Advance booking is essential.

🎫 Who needs a ticket?

This is a family event, and each attendee, including adults and children, will require a ticket to attend.

📍Where do we meet? 

Meet on the mound behind the visitor centre.

🥾What should we wear? 

Most of our events are fully outdoors, and you need to come dressed for the weather.  We recommend layers (top and bottom), which can get mucky.  Wellies (with thick socks) and waterproofs are a good shout if you have them. 

🌍Where are you based? 

We are located in Mid-Essex, local to Chelmsford, Ingatestone, Billericay, Wickford, South Woodham Ferrers, and Basildon.

🚗Is there parking? 

Yes. We have a large free car park.

🚇Can we get to you on public transport? 

We are accessible by bus, with bus stops outside the centre and 10 minutes away. We are not accessible by train.

🚻Are there toilets? 

Toilets are located inside the visitor centre. 

☕Is there a Cafe or shop? 

The visitor centre has a shop and café serving hot and cold drinks, snacks, ice cream, and light lunches. 

🐕‍🦺Can we bring a dog? 

Assistance dogs are welcome at our events. 

♿Is it wheelchair accessible? 

Our reserve pathways are flat and easy to push wheelchairs, but our activities mound can be slippery, which could make it difficult to push wheelchairs up. 

🔥What should we bring? Is food provided?  (For sites with a campfire) 

 Please bring your own snack to cook over the campfire (weather permitting). Please do not bring raw meat or snacks with nuts.  

🥜My Child Has Allergies. Will they be able to eat the snack?
