About the event

Summer Photography & Cyanotype Creative Camp (5-Day Programme)
Theme: Sun Magic, Nature & Creative Discovery

📍 The Naze Discovery Centre
📅 5 Days (Monday–Friday)
⏰ 2.5 hours per day
💷 Cost: £145 per child (for the full week)

Join us this summer for a 5-day creative photography camp where young people will explore cameras, nature, and the magic of cyanotype printing in a fun, relaxed, and inspiring environment.

Guided by the theme “Sun Magic, Nature & Creative Discovery”, this week-long experience encourages children to slow down, observe the world around them, and create meaningful artwork inspired by the landscape.

Throughout the week, participants will:
– Learn the basics of photography and composition
– Explore creative ways of seeing and storytelling through images
– Experiment with cyanotype (sun printing) using pre-prepared materials
– Print on a range of surfaces including paper, fabric, wood, and natural objects
– Take part in outdoor exploration (weather permitting), collecting textures and inspiration from the surrounding environment
– Develop confidence in their own creative ideas and expression

Children are welcome to bring along their own objects to use within their artwork, encouraging imagination and individuality.

End of Week Exhibition
On the final day, we will celebrate the week with a mini exhibition, where children will showcase their favourite pieces to family and friends. Each participant will also receive a certificate of completion to recognise their creativity and achievement.

This camp offers a calm, supportive space for young creatives to experiment, build confidence, and enjoy the process of making — leaving with a collection of unique handmade prints and photographs.

All materials are included and fully prepared in advance.

Led by Rebecca Cross – Rootsshoots Photography, photographer and educator specialising in alternative processes and mindful image-making.
