Enjoy a Father’s Day adventure

Celebrate Father's Day outdoors by exploring The Naze, Abberton or Fingringhoe Wick for shared nature adventures and memories.

Father’s Day means something different to everyone. For some it’s a chance to celebrate dad, grandad, stepdad or another important father figure. For others, it can be a day to reflect, remember, or simply spend time with people who matter most.

Getting outdoors and connecting with nature is a wonderful way to slow down and make memories. Whether you are looking for a family adventure, a peaceful walk, or an opportunity to discover local wildlife. Here are some of our favourite ways to enjoy the day:

Discover geology at The Naze Nature Discovery Centre:

If history or science is of interest, then geology at The Naze guided walk on Sunday 21st June is for you.

The Naze is home to spectacular cliffs that are around 50 million years old, making it one of Essex’s most important geological sites. Visitors can learn about the fascinating past of the area and explore the coastline, discovering fossils, rock formations and wildlife that make up this unique landscape so special.

Wildlife at Abberton Reservoir:

Peaceful walks and spotting wildlife along the way is hard to beat. Abberton is one of Europe’s most important wetland sites, welcoming ducks, swans, and geese throughout the year. Abberton Reservoir offers beautiful walking routes, breathtaking views across the water and excellent opportunities for birdwatching.

Explore Fingringhoe Wick:

Fingringhoe Wick For families who love adventure, Fingringhoe Wick offers miles of trails through a variety of habitats, from woodland and heathland to ponds and estuary views.

Spend the day wandering through the peaceful landscapes, visit the hides and spot the butterflies and dragonflies, or book a badger watching evening (hyperlink here).
