For Tom, a love of nature has been a lifelong passion. From exploring the outdoors as a boy and discovering insects, to walking holidays spent exploring historic places and heritage sites, nature and the world around him have always been an important part of his life.
Now retired from the museum service, where he spent his career working with history and heritage, including natural history collections, Tom has carried that curiosity and appreciation for the natural world with him throughout life.
Having lived in Colchester for more than 25 years, Tom has seen Essex Wildlife Trust grow and develop over the years. He has been particularly impressed by the Trust's confidence and commitment to protecting and enhancing the habitats that our wildlife depends on.
For Tom, the importance of nature hasn't diminished with age. If anything, his knowledge and understanding of wildlife has deepened.
