Thank you to our pledgers

Did you know that 32% of our voluntary income is from incredible people who have left us a Gift in their Will? Many of our projects are funded with the help of these powerful gifts, enabling us to continue our work protecting the wildlife of Essex. We are always extremely grateful for the generosity of our donors.

As a Legacy Officer, I love to know if people have included us in their future planning, as it means we have the honour of thanking them personally within their lifetime. We do this by holding three Thank You events a year, across the county.

So far this year we have enjoyed a guided walking tour around our Thameside Nature Discovery Park, spotting singing skylarks and listening to the cuckoos calling. We have also held a Butterfly ID session, including one-hour of classroom-based learning, following by a walk to put our newfound knowledge to the test. One eagle-eyed guest spotted a tiny purple hairstreak butterfly amongst the blossoming brambles! In September, we are planning an exciting evening walk, detecting bats at our Tiptree Heath nature reserve.

We also organise bespoke trips for those who can’t easily reach a location, or if the walking distance is a little tricky. There is always a way around these potential barriers, as we want as many of our pledgers as possible to benefit from the beauty of our nature reserves.

If you have included us in your Will, but we are yet unaware, please do get in touch with me as I would be delighted to invite you to our 2025 events. We do understand, however, if you would prefer to remain anonymous and we respect your reasons for this.

If you are interested in leaving a gift in your Will, I would be happy to talk you through the process. We even offer a Free Wills service to make the process even easier.
