Essex Wildlife Trust is closely following guidance set out by the Government, the National Council for Voluntary Organisations and Public Health England.
In light of the current guidance, we have taken the difficult decision to close all of our Nature Discovery Centres, car parks and cancel our upcoming events until the end of June, to prioritise the welfare of our staff, volunteers, supporters and members of the public and to help limit the spread of the virus.
Five of our Nature Discovery Centres: Ingrebourne Valley, Bedfords Park, Thorndon Countryside Centre, the Naze Centre and Belfairs Woods are situated within council owned parks and land, please check your local council's website and follow their latest guidance.
Four of our nature reserves are entirely shut due to the health and safety of staff on site or partner agreements: Fingringhoe Wick, Abberton Reservoir, Abbotts Hall Farm and Hanningfield Reservoir.
Please do respect the latest Governmental advice, only visit your local green spaces and nature reserves by foot while practising social distancing and please stay at home if you're showing any symptoms or are a high-risk individual.
While at home, there are still many ways for you to enjoy our wonderful wildlife and wild places. Sign up to our e-newsletter for regular advice, tips, inspiring stories or news from the Trust, follow us on social media or explore our website. You can even watch our wildlife live on one of our wildlife webcams.
The natural world continues to need our help now more than ever so if you would like to turn your garden into a mini nature reserve you can find endless ideas here. We need to connect up our gardens and create wildlife corridors for species to thrive in our county.
If you have booked on to one of our events or training programmes we are very sorry for the inconvenience and if you have not heard from us yet you will be contacted very soon regarding your options.
To all of the members of the Trust – we would like to express our whole-hearted thanks for your ongoing support. We can assure you that you will still be receiving your Spring 2020 magazine in April as planned. The Trust will continue to share our expertise and offer you the tools to help us create a Wilder Essex.
Thank you for your ongoing support, patience and understanding at this challenging time. We look forward to welcoming you back as soon as we can.
