A thousand excited visitors joined Essex Wildlife Trust at their Abberton Reservoir Visitor Centre in Colchester to welcome the award-winning naturalist broadcaster, Steve Backshall for an evening full of fascinating tales and nail-biting videos.

Visitors of all ages sat and listened in awe as Steve discussed his recent series ‘Expedition! Voyages to Undiscovered Places’, his life with wildlife and his Deadly 60 TV series, where his camera crew travelled the globe to find 60 of the deadliest animals.

The sell-out event on October 5th raised over £8000 for the wildlife charity and will go towards funding vital conservation work to protect Essex’s wildlife and wild places for the future.

It was a joy to see so many people coming to our nature reserve to hear Steve Backshall speak about his expeditions and encounters with wildlife. Especially all those children that will now be inspired to follow in his footsteps to help protect wildlife and nature! Everyone also had the opportunity to ask him questions and meet him, thankfully he was more than happy to stay for all to get their books signed and pictures taken. Thank you to all who came along!
