Food and Beverage Volunteer (North Essex)

Our Nature Discovery Centre is set in the huge expanse of Essex & Suffolk Water's Abberton Reservoir which is one of Europe's top wetland sites. It is of international importance as a safe haven for wild ducks, swans and other water birds, whether resident, passing through on migration or over-wintering. It lies close to east-coast migration routes and, with its surrounding envelope of pasture and tree plantations, is a welcome sight to tired birds.

We are looking for “people who like people” to assist in the cafe and help give a great welcome to our guests. The cafe is popular with our visitors as well as a small shop so there are a wide variety of skills involved. We give full training and want all our volunteers to feel part of our team.

Our centres are not profit making.  All money raised goes directly back into managing conservation across Essex. 

When can I volunteer?

We are looking for volunteers who are available during the weekend.  We generally have volunteer sessions between 10:00 – 13:00 and 13:00 – 17:00 but if that is not convenient we can chat!

What happens next

Your interest in this opportunity will be shared with the relevant Volunteer Manager for consideration. We invite prospective volunteers for a meet and greet with the Volunteer Manager and team to discuss the opportunity. Following this, if you would like to accept role, you will be asked to complete a volunteer registration form and complete any necessary training.

If you decide not to go ahead with a Volunteer opportunity or are unsuccessful, your application will be deleted.
