Mindfulness and meditation at Abbotts Hall
Event details
About the event
Led by meditation practitioner and Nature Reserves Manager Neil Bedford, this unique session offers an opportunity to experience the wilderness of Abbotts Hall, a beautiful and tranquil part of the Essex Wildlife Trust estate.
The session begins with a gentle introduction to mindfulness and meditation indoors, exploring simple techniques that can help us become more present, calm and aware. Participants will then venture onto the reserve, where guided and self-led mindfulness exercises will encourage a deeper connection with nature and the surrounding landscape.
Throughout the session, Neil will offer gentle guidance and prompts to help participants engage with their senses and develop their own mindfulness practice. As we walk through the reserve and spend time in carefully chosen, quiet locations, there will be opportunities to pause, reflect and experience the sights, sounds and sensations of the natural world.
After approximately two hours on the reserve, the group (limited to eight participants) will walk back together, taking time to notice the smaller details of the landscape and perhaps experiencing a greater sense of calm, connection and wellbeing.
This session is suitable for both beginners and those with previous experience of mindfulness or meditation. No special equipment is required—just suitable outdoor clothing, sturdy footwear and an open mind.
Join us for a rare opportunity to slow down, breathe deeply and reconnect with yourself and the natural world in one of Essex Wildlife Trust's most peaceful and inspiring locations.
The ticket price is £30 per person. Advance booking essential.
Please read our event terms and conditions before booking your place.
Please meet at the Joan Elliot meeting rooms at 2.30pm. Parking is available on site, and toilet facilities are available before the walk begins and again when it finishes. This is also the only opportunity to refill water bottles, as there are no toilets or facilities elsewhere on the reserve.
The walk follows a largely flat route along mown grass and paved paths, but some sections are uneven, so sturdy footwear is essential.
Participants should be comfortable spending more than two hours on their feet without access to additional facilities. Please bring weather-appropriate clothing, sun protection, plenty of water and any snacks you may need.
Please note that access to the reserve is only available as part of this ticketed event.
The closest café and shop is Abberton Nature Discovery Centre, approximately 7 minutes’ drive away with opening hours of 10am – 4pm.
