About the event

Join us for a beginner’s guide to spring wildflower and plant ID, a comprehensive course designed to introduce you to the fascinating world of spring flora. Led by a knowledgeable member of our Wilder Learning Team, this course will combine theory with hands-on practice through two guided walks around the reserve.

During the theory session, you'll receive an introduction to the fundamentals of plant identification, covering botanical structures and field identification techniques. Then, armed with this knowledge, we'll venture into the meadow and woodlands of Belfairs to apply our newfound skills in real-world scenarios.

Please be aware this event involves substantial walking, so comfortable footwear is recommended. Please bring your own lunch for the day. By the end of the course, we aim for you to feel confident in identifying common plants in Essex, understanding the seasonal rhythms of spring flowers, and appreciating their ecological importance in our environment.

Meet at the visitor centre on arrival - Please make sure to allocate enough time for parking, as it can be busy at times.

Advance booking is essential.
